Rose City is pleased to announce the first offseason decisions for the club in 2015. Rodney Wallace will be returning to the Flyers as the club's 2015 Retention Player. His injury during the first part of the season and subsequent undrafted status make this a possibility. Wallace has been doing strong supporting work for the Flyers for two years now.

Giles Barnes - Rose City DP

In addition, Giles Barnes will be occupying one of the team's DP slots. His strong work ethic and the increased competition that the now Western Conference Houston Dynamo will face makes him a good choice to keep around. The team's second DP slot is available for trades and the team is actively looking for first and second round draft picks.

Feel free to make offers. All resources are available including player rights, allocation money, and the team's final DP slot.

EDIT: The club has just come to an agreement with the owner of the CD Gunners for the team's extra DP slot and other considerations. The deal earns the Flyers a second pick in the third round of the draft. Other resources are still available to make trades with further teams.

2014: A New Season

It's a new season in the Rose City!

After taking the league by storm in its first season, the Rose City Flyers experienced the classic Sophomore Slump. A poor draft coupled by a squad plagued by injuries at the beginning and end of the season spelled doom for the Boys in Red. A lot of games were lost by one goal or by poor lineup choices and the front office promises that this season will be stronger.

 "We've always made strong acquisitions during the season, but for our short time in the league, we've never made a splash during the draft. That's one thing we're looking to change and change quickly," a team representative said when questioned. "Finding the strongest option at our draft position has been something we've struggled with. Hopefully, with a high draft number after two seasons near the bottom, our club can make some strong choices."

To start that transition to season three, the club is happy to announce their first news regarding returning players. Marco Di Vaio will, once again occupy one of the club's Designated Player spots and backline bruiser Aurelien Collin will be the clubs first Retention Player under the league's new rule.

"Marco has been one of the strongest players we've had since he entered the league a year and a half ago. He's clinical, puts up points, and is always a threat. Likewise, Aurelien came through for us more times last year than anyone else. We're happy to see him returning to the club this season," the club's manager said when questioned at the season starting press conference.

Di Vaio announced as final DP Selection

In a short note today, Rose City has followed through on their initial offseason plans and labeled Marco Di Vaio as their third and final Designated Player. The club was in some negotiations, but it seems that Di Vaio's short season here last year hasn't convinced the other BSL managers of his value yet.

"We're very glad to have our three biggest names from our first successful season back with us," the Flyers' manager said when asked about this latest advancement. "These are quality guys who show up every week and give it their all. Having three guys like this that you know you can count on, and who haven't jumped ship from MLS or had their circumstances change in any substantial way since the previous season, that's what gives a team stability. It's important."

Di Vaio will take Rose City's final Designated Player slot. Mauro Rosales and Marvin Chavez were previously named the teams first two DPs.

Rose City Announces Two DPs

The Rose City Flyers are proud to announce that they're tentatively marking Marvin Chavez and Mauro Rosales as two of this upcoming season's Designated Players. Both players were key in the club's success last season and they don't appear to be going anywhere either for Rose City or their respective MLS teams.

Obviously, should something happen to either of these players (injury or transfer) before the BSL DP deadline, the club could choose someone else. However, it looks good to see both of these outstanding players suiting up for the Boys in Red again this season.

"Having a significant part of our offense back wearing our colors again this season is a truly great place to start," the Flyers coach said when asked about the announcement. "Both Mauro and Marvin put up numbers last season and were always a threat to score at any moment. Nothing about how they're being played in MLS seems to indicate that we should expect anything different from them this year."
